printers show up in file share |
|
|
Hello all,
I have a two node Windows 2003 Enterprise cluster running one group for
file sharing and one group for printers. When users goto the virtual
server for the file server they see the file share but also see the
printers and vice versa. Is there a way to prevent this so that only
file shares show up on the virtual file server and printers only show
up on the print server.
Thanks in advance.... |

You could do this -

sorry chuck if i'm missing something here but i don't think this will solve
the problem
i read the whitepaper and thinks it's a great idea (though novell had it for
years)
anyway, what he is saying is that if someone has access to a share, let's
call it data located on virtual server 1, he goes to virtual server 2 where
the printers are located and can see that share there, as if it's on that
server, thought it's hosted on the other virtual server. i seem to remember
reading somewhere that that is by design (can't find the article offhand)
but will look.

Just to clarify...
If a user goes to \\printserver\ they see;
printer1
printer2
share1
share 2
If they goto \\fileserver\ they see;
printer1
printer2
share1
share 2
Thanks folks... |

re:printers show up in file share |

| You are seeing this because the file resource and the print resource are being hosted on the same node. If you have an active active setup, then host one group on each node. |
