Expanding Sharepoint ? |
|
|
Dear All,
I am currently looking at Sharepoint Portal as a basis for a larger system.
Is it possible to expand Sharepoint so that it incorporates the results of a
queries on other databases and web forms to populate and update these
tables. From what I have read this appears feasible but I wanted to check
with those who know whether there are any problems with this type of
expansion.
thanks

It is quite possible. As long as you can programmatically access the
information in your other servers you can, at the very least, display the
information within SPS.

Thanks Gary,
The queries will return data from a seperate database and some of this data
will be for public viewing while other parts will be protected via logon and
SSL. Certain users will also have the permission to edit the data via web
forms.
Can anyone see any problems with adding this type of funtionality to
Sharepoint?
Thanks you for your asistance.
