Have the lastest version of Ultrasound installed on a 2003 server with
SP1. Have the Ultrasound provider deployed on my 2003 domain
controllers, some with SP1, some without. Ultrasound collects fine on
the pre-SP1 DCs but continuously logs "MWI Access denied" errors for
all SP1 DCs. Ultrasound collects fine on non-DC 2003 servers with SP1.
Obviously some permissions changed with SP1 and I verified the
controller's computer account was in the security of
Root-CIMV2-Applications-MicrosoftUltrasoundV1 as stated in the
Ultrasound FAQ.

Has anyone gotten Ultrasound to collect from 2003 DCs with SP1?

Windows Server 2003 SP1 changed default permissions for remote DCOM launch and activation. To fix this problem, add the Ultrasound controller account to the "Distributed COM users" local group on each monitored SP1 server. The latest Ultrasound update does that automatically during WMI provider deployment. You can pick either method: upgrade Ultrasound and redeploy providers or manually add the account to groups.
