Transmission between HIS and iSeries |
|
|
Hi
Does anybody knows if there's a transmission tool to send files from HIS
2004 to an iSeries or viceversa. |

Guillermo - how about FTP? Built into Windows and ISeries (AS/400). There
are 3rd party tools like XCom, Connect:Direct and no doubt others, but these
all cost £££.

Hi Neil
I'm sorry for not putting the complete question :( . . . well my doubt it's
about
a transmission tool to send or receive files from HIS 2004 to iSeries, but
through
"SNA" not TCP.
If you have something for SNA I'll appreciate if you let me know.
Thanks again.

Guillermo - you mean you have an AS400 that doesn't support tcp/ftp?!? It
would have to be a REALLY OLD one. And the fact you've called it iSeries
rather indicates it isn't old...
So why would you want to use SNA?!?
Anyway, there were a couple of built-in tools you could use for this - the
AFTP gateway and the shared-folders gateway, but these were both removed from
HIS2004 (the last release they worked with was HIS2000). I can only assume
they were removed because no-one needed them any more. I certainly never used
them.
If you absolutely must use SNA, the HIS 2004 will provide the underlying
APPC/LU62 comms needed. But you'll have to use a 3rd party tool running over
it like the ones I listed below.
Another alternative would be to use the file transfer built-in to your 5250
emulator if it comes with one.
