Hello, All!
We have a MOM 2005 environment running with 20 servers managed.
Many servers are located in remote sites each in disjoined domains.
- Mutual autentication is disabled.
- Remote MOM agents are deployed and installed manually
- MOM Server is SP1; remote MOM agents are SP1 upgraded
- All firewalls permit 1270 TCP/UDP trafic
- Connection are deployed in VPN

We have recently add three new remote servers.
Initially all three remote servers have 'operating System ' and 'last
contacted' fields empty in administration console.
All new added servers initially reports 26021 error like 885416 KB article.
After some days:
- 1 start to comunicate normally (but very rarely)
- 1 populate 'operating System ' field without fill 'last contacted' field
in administration console
- 1 continue leave both fields empty
Now another remote server is added; after 'manual agent install approved' no
more comunication between remote server and MOM Server is registered.
ServerIOTimeoutMS value is set to 600.000 (10 minutes)

Roberto,

Some things you can check:

1. Can the management server ping those agents?

2. Can the agents ping the management server?

3. Can the agents telnet to port 1270 on the management server?

4. Is the MOM service started and running on the agents?

5. Are there any errors in the application or system event logs that
might indicate connectivity problems or other type of communication
problems?

This information should at least help isolate the problems. We have
agents over VERY slow links and we tend to get heartbeat pretty
regularly. However, updating the agents can be problematic sometimes...

No. Agent managed servers are behind firewall that don't permit ICMP trafic
d> 2. Can the agents ping the management server?
No. Like step 1
d> 3. Can the agents telnet to port 1270 on the management server?
Yes. Port 1270 TCP/UDP is permitted
d> 4. Is the MOM service started and running on the agents?
Yes.

No. Normally i can connect via RDP with remote servers. Tunnel VPN is
established between Management Server and remote agents. Terminal connection
normally works fine!

I'm stumped. You might want to open a call with PSS.
