Are you behind a proxy server?
If so, try this:
In the web.config for the virtual server add the following config info:
<system.net>
<defaultProxy>
<proxy proxyaddress="http://proxyserver:80" bypassonlocal="true" />
</defaultProxy>
</system.net>
replace proxyserver with your proxy server. Save the file, do an IISRESET,
then try again.
Cheers,

I tried re-configuring web.config and added the info you gave me. I also
added this info but no success.

Please help. Thanks in advance.

I am still getting this error:
"Cannot open the Online Gallery. The site server has not been configured to
support an online gallery."
I just followed the rules and I changed the web.config info. but I could not
make this work. How can I configure the Sharepoint to support online gallery?
Please help. Thanks.

Yes, it's behind a firewall...
I made it sure that I enabled 'Online Web Part Gallery' in my Virtual Server
WSS > 'Manage Settings for Web Part Pages'.
Why is this so hard to configure? Why do I still get the error below after I
made changes in the web.config?
Please continue to help me to solve this issue. Thanks.
