Hi!!

I am creating a new folder on a document library of SPS 2003 and am prompted
with: "The specified file or folder name is too long. The URL path for all
files and folders must be 260 characters or less (and no more than 128
characters for any single file or folder name in the URL). Please type a
shorter file or folder name.". Where do I change the setting to allow more
of 260 characters for an URL? Thanks!

Hi Carlos,
You can't change it. From the Admin Guide of SharePoint: "Portal site URL
The URL for the portal site is limited to 255 characters for the entire URL,
including virtual directories."

You could create a little .asp or aspx page on your webserver that contained
a redirect to the long url you need. Then in Sharepoint you could just
reference the little redirect page's url instead of the long one. I've never
tried this, but I think it would work.
