Action Account

To change the Management Server action account that was configured by MOM
Management Server Installation, You need to use a command line tool -
SetActionAccount.exe to view and modify the action account on the Management
Server of the existing MOM deployment.

*The Management Server's Action account is used to gather information about,
and run responses on, the Management Server and can be used for installing
and uninstalling agents on remote computers and updating settings on agents.
The agent's action account is used to gather information about, and run
responses on, the managed computer. Several MOM processes run under the
action account, including the processes that host MOM response scripts and
managed code responses. The main purpose of the action account is to control
the permissions and security for these processes, and the scripts and
assemblies that they execute.

To view the existing action account:

SetActionAccount.exe ManagementGroupName -query

To Change the existing action account:

SetActionAccount.exe -set DomainName UserName

Hello,

Thank you for your posting!

You can have agents in non-trusted domains or workgroups; however, mutual
authentication is not available because, by definition, no two-way trust
relationship exists between the Management Server domain and the agent
domain. The secure channel is still available, however. You must install and
update the agents manually. If the Management Server is configured to
require mutual authentication, these agents will not be able to communicate
with it.

If you have any questions, please feel to let me know. I am glad to be of
assistance.

Thank you for your response.

I cannot see Mom Action Account on my XP PC, as I tried to add it to my
local admin account on the XP box?

Do I have to do this on all my XP PCs, is there no way from the server this
can be done?

Advise please.

Thank you very much for the response.

My MOM is installed on a Member server.

I pushed the agent to the XP client and it failed saying ...

"MOM Server failed to perform specified Operation on computer
"xyz.domain.local"
Error Code:5.
Access Denied.

Advise please

Action Account

To change the Management Server action account that was configured by MOM
Management Server Installation, You need to use a command line tool -
SetActionAccount.exe to view and modify the action account on the
Management
Server of the existing MOM deployment.

*The Management Server's Action account is used to gather information
about,
and run responses on, the Management Server and can be used for
installing
and uninstalling agents on remote computers and updating settings on
agents.
The agent's action account is used to gather information about, and run
responses on, the managed computer. Several MOM processes run under the
action account, including the processes that host MOM response scripts
and
managed code responses. The main purpose of the action account is to
control
the permissions and security for these processes, and the scripts and
assemblies that they execute.

To view the existing action account:

SetActionAccount.exe ManagementGroupName -query

To Change the existing action account:

SetActionAccount.exe -set DomainName UserName

If you have any questions, please feel to let me know. I am glad to be of
