NLB Multicast Cluster problem for 2003 Server |
|
|
We have two nodes of Windows 2003 Server Std. Ed. , one has Realtek 8139 LAN
Adapter with NDIS driver installed. Other with Intel Pro 100. We form an NLB
cluster of 2 nodes and access the IIS pages from a third client.
When we disconnect the network cable for one node, we cannot access the same
page from the other node. We are sure that same resources are located on each
node. Also when we connect the cable again, the node does not converge into
the cluster and the pages cannot be accessed.
We are new to NLB clustering but we believe that the configurations are OK
with NLB Manager. What can be the problem?
Thanks

Can you give us more on the settings you are using? Affinity? Weight? Is it
the same NIC every time or both NICs that give you the problem. Etc.
Cheers,

Hello Rod,
Thank you very much for your reply. The problem is solved. That was a problem
about the type of the network controller. We switched our nodes to newer PCs
with AsusTek/BroadCom Integrated Controller and now NLB is properly working!
The former ones had Realtek 8139 10/100 PCI Network Adapters.
Thanks again.
Meanwhile, maybe I can ask you a question for our application. We will have
an ASP.NET Web site that allows users to upload some pictures of their
products for marketing purposes. ASP.NET Web Control of HTML File Control can
manage this work and puts the uploaded picture files to target folders under
wwwroot/app folder. When we switch to NLB how will be this operation managed?
Will resources be uploded to only one node? Or will it be distributed to
others? Is there any special syncronization mechanisms for Web applications
or FTP Sites under NLB Clusters?
