Hi,

I'm trying to override the SearchResults webpart, but with no luck.

I just started a new VS webpart project and the webpart class is
inheriting from Microsoft.Sharepoint.WebpartPages.Webpart.

To implement an Inherited version of Searchresults, I'm trying to let
my webpart inherit from that class. Like so :

Public class Webpart1 :
Microsoft.Sharepoint.Portal.Webcontrols.SearchResults
{
....
}

That is the only thing i changed from the beginning. Now the webpart
is'nt working no more on the portal site. I don't know why. Is there
anything i'm supposed to do before overriding this SearchResults class.

All help would be appreciated,

That should be all you have to do and it has worked for me. I suggest you
take a look at the following community project on gotdotnet - it also
overrides the SearchResults WebPart so you can follow its code...
