Adding a remote computer for management |
|
|
I'm following the first book of MCSA (exam 70-290), I have Win 2003
on my PC
I'm trying to add a remote computer (my laptop- Win XP) for
management , I followed the instructions in the book, added a Computer
Management snap-in in the MMC console and clicked 'connect to another
computer' , I put my laptop's name and a security window came up
asking me for a user name and password. I put my name and password
(that I have on the server, not on the laptop) and it said 'access
denied'. I thought maybe I put the wrong password or should have used
the laptop's user name but the problem is that that security window
doesn't come up again.
I deleted the snap-in and tried to make a new one , or go directly to
computer management . When I add my laptop it displays it in the
management console but doesn't let me access any files saying I
don't have permission yet no window comes up where I can put in a
username/ password.
I'm sorry , I'm a total beginner , I hope someone can help me... |

Did you try to rebooting your PC and then trying again?
Did you click Remember password when you entered your username and
password? |

try Start - Run - "control userpasswords2" - OK
Advanced - Manage Passwords
and see if your password is there, you could try change it there or
even remove it. If this is the case then after removal the system
should ask you again for your password.
If this is not the issue then I'm afraid I don't have any other
suggestions. |
