NLB with 2 NICs |
|
|
Hi
I want to load balance with 2 NICs per server.
1 of the NICs (the "public" one) per server will go to the same switch but
should the other one go to a sepearate switch or with the same one be ok?
Thanks

Sorry, forgot to mention. NIC 1 is on 192.168.1.x segment, NIC 2 is on
10.0.0.x segment |

Talk to your network team about configuring the NLB ports on the switches to
be part of the same VLAN.

Each NIC will be it's own cluster seperate from each other (In W2K3 that
is).

To protect against flooding? All of your public facing connections would go
to the hub and then the hub would go to the switch. The switch would then be
happy because it knows what port has the MAC for the NLB cluster.
The heartbeat should never be attached to anything but the other heartbeats.
I hope that helps.

Re: NLB with 2 NICs |

Sorry, I dont understand.
I have 1 network card that connects to the rest of the network -
192.168.0.103 (with gateway and dns etc set). I have a second card with IP
10.0.0.3 (with no gateway) and can only ping the other server (10.0.0.4).
Which card should I select to NLB with in the NLB manager?
Thanks

Sure, but then you are limited to a two node NLB cluster.
