So this is a new one for me and a BIG problem. My server is using up about
1GB per day on the store, which makes it a little hard to run seeing as
though there is only 1GB of free memory on that partition (dell?!?!)
Anyways I need to know what to do this is becoming a problem daily and the
only way I can free up "some" memory is by running a backup 2 a day to
aleviate...
Is there anyway to fix this or what?
Please help.
Thanks

So, are you saying that you are getting a ton of Exchange logs created? If
so, you have to address/determine why you are getting flooded with email.

AV Scanning? Not sure what that is, so I take the answer is no.... M Drive,
dont have one, so were good on that...
There is another point I would like to throw out there, I opened the
exchange logs and they are 1.5GB, then I looked into the dates and the ones
from 17th of last week are still in there, are those not supposed to get
deleted when I do a backup? The last backup I made was last night? Correct
me if I am wrong... Other than that I have done nothing different to warrent
this.
Thanks in advance.

AV = antivirus --- hopefully you are running a good antivirus program on
your server

As to the log files, if you have a ton of those 5mb .log files, then your
backup is not setup correctly to backup the exchange files. If so, see:
http://www.smallbizserver.net/Default.aspx?tabid=58

Hello Marina
Thanks for the information, your message got me to thinking and I opened one
of the lOG files which contained thousands upon thousands of messages from my
own servers AV software sending emails out to people that send us messages
that are spam or virus infected. I just did an update and I guess it turned
the deature back on.
In any event got it fixed not the daily logs are about the size of what was
being used in 2 minutes before, but now I still have the problem that a week
backlog of logs is still there even after an update (I guess it keeps a week)
can I just delete them or do I have to keep them till WED of next week - or
is there another way to get arounfd this (they are about 1.5GB just those 5
days)
Please inform and thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,

No, you can't just delete those logfiles. Make an exchange aware backup and
then they will be flushed automagically.

Hello Marina
Thanks for the information, your message got me to thinking and I opened
one
of the lOG files which contained thousands upon thousands of messages from
my
own servers AV software sending emails out to people that send us messages
that are spam or virus infected. I just did an update and I guess it
turned
the deature back on.
In any event got it fixed not the daily logs are about the size of what
was
being used in 2 minutes before, but now I still have the problem that a
week
backlog of logs is still there even after an update (I guess it keeps a
week)
can I just delete them or do I have to keep them till WED of next week -
or
is there another way to get arounfd this (they are about 1.5GB just those
5
days)
Please inform and thanks in advance for your help.

AV Scanning? Not sure what that is, so I take the answer is no.... M
Drive,
dont have one, so were good on that...
There is another point I would like to throw out there, I opened the
exchange logs and they are 1.5GB, then I looked into the dates and the
ones
from 17th of last week are still in there, are those not supposed to
get
deleted when I do a backup? The last backup I made was last night?
Correct
me if I am wrong... Other than that I have done nothing different to
warrent
this.
Thanks in advance.

Are you AV scanning the Exchange folder by any chance? Or the
M-drive?

So, are you saying that you are getting a ton of Exchange logs
created?
If
so, you have to address/determine why you are getting flooded
with
email.

So this is a new one for me and a BIG problem. My server is
using
up
about
1GB per day on the store, which makes it a little hard to run
seeing
as
though there is only 1GB of free memory on that partition
(dell?!?!)
Anyways I need to know what to do this is becoming a problem
daily
and
the
only way I can free up "some" memory is by running a backup 2
a
day to
aleviate...
Is there anyway to fix this or what?
Please help.
Thanks
