SBS2000 sp4 all updates applied and current as of August 2005

After starting Automatic updates -----

After KB893803 was installed --- Cannot apply or uninstall updates, or stop
and restart services!

Customer needs suggestions for a fix!!

Is it possible that your customer is running an older version of APC
PowerChute? Many problems stopping and starting services have been reported
from that, whereas I'm not aware of any from the KB you reference. APC
probably would have played nicely until a reboot, so it's possible for the
problem not to show up right away.

If they're running PowerChute, have them stop it and set to manual to see if
that helps. More likely, they'll have to boot into safe mode, set
PowerChute to manual, and reboot in normal mode. Then uninstall the old
PowerChute version and upgrade to current (download from APC).
