Hi Guys,

Like to check if the cluster service will stop when the ONLY domain
controller fail. And by the way, they are running on Windows 2003 platform.

Hope you can enlighten me on this area.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

LIEW

When the cluster services starts on a node, it requires a domain controller
to start the service. The cluster services runs as a domain account. If they
DC is not available anything after it is started, it will not affect
clustered node.

Cheers,

Rod

Hi Rod,

Thanks for the quick reply.

I was thinking if this could affect the failover when the DC is not around.

And am i right to say so long if the cluster service is not restarted, it
will continue to function for as long as possible till someting happen?

Thanks for the advise.

Regards,

LIEW

That is true, but you also need to consider access to clustered resources
like file shares....you will need credential verification for that.

HI,

Can i conclude that the cluster will still fail over even without the Domain

Thanks.

I think I'll chime in with the obvious advice that you get a SECOND DC up
and running to mitigate against the possibility of the domain being
unavailable...like Chuck said, without authentication, the users won't be
able to really access much anyway - clustered or not.
