Installation Requirements |
|
|
I have heard that Exchange 2000/2003 is required to install LCS 2005. I have
not seen anything about this in the documentation, just that AD is required.
My shop is running Active Directory (2003 servers) but has an Exchange 5.5 SP
4 mail system in place. Can someone verify that this is in fact the case or
will LCS 2005 work with an Exchange 5.5 system ?? |

No, exchange is *NOT* a requirement for LCS 2005.
Thanks,
Dhigha

Not stepping on Dhigha's toes...Exchange is not a requirement, but I wanted
to add a confusing $0.02.
If you have Exchange 2000/2003 (not sure about 5.5) in your environment, LCS
will pick up the primary SMTP address that is associated with the account
and use it for the SIP address. How it grabs it out of Active Directory (or
what field is used in AD), I am not sure.
When you upgrade from 5.5 to 2000/2003, it will not affect your existing SIP
addresses.

you mean, when enabling users for SIP? That does work with
an e-mail address present on the general tab.
Are are you talking about the proxyAddresses attribute that
is used for presence integration, such as in Outlook.
