Hi,

how does one set up an SMTP or pager notification for the MOM Onepoint
database being unavailable if the db is on a separate server? So far, I am
only able to get the notification if I bring the db back online, which is a
bit late.

thanks

Filipe

Hello,

Thank you for your posting!

Please try to use SQL Server Management Pack, and use the Event Rule to
generate the alerts

If you have any questions, please feel to let me know. I am glad to be of
assistance.

Thanks for your reply. That will only work once the OnePoint db comes online
again. This does not appear to work, for example, if the OnePoint db server
crashes during the night leaving the management server unable to raise
alerts or send standard notifications using alert rules and such. In such an
event we would like to be paged that the MOM db is down.

Is there another way perhaps?

thanks

Hello,

Thank you for your posting!

Then, I think you need to use third party software or other method to
monitor the Event Log of the MOM OnePoint Database offline and failure.

If you have any questions, please feel to let me know. I am glad to be of
assistance.

Hi Filipe,

you should use the Remote Connectivity rules from the SQL Management
pack. Navigate to the MS SQL Server -> SQL Server 2000 -> Client Sode
Monitoring. Also read
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/mom/mom2005/Library/bb5fbf4
c-fe54-4bdf-8e6e-0d0cff252bb8.mspx
because it will need some additional configuration
