"The Web site that is referenced here is not in the configuration
database."

That's the error I received this morning. I've looked around and can't
seem to find anything that points to restoring a site (if it indeed
needs restoring) on a non-SBS server.

I've tried the simple; restarting services, restarting the box, on the
off chance it was just something awry, but that didn't help. It looks
like the SQL (WMSDE) data is still there as well, but the site is gone
- can't connect to the site, subsites in either IE or FP.

Help? :)

Sorry, nope, never did. None of the restoration steps I found got
things back up and running, and I didn't have another server to
restore things to. I ended up starting from scratch.

I believe it was due to the fact that I used to leave Frontpage
connected to the WSS site, and subsequestly screwed things up (I read
that several times in research).

I received this error again yesterday, but this one was due to the
WMSDE server instance just stopping, and needing to be restarted. Not
sure what happened here, but it's running as it was before.

My sites are mainly used for personal workfow tracking and learning,
which is why I wasn't devastated that the site died. It's really hard
to sanction MS products in a *nix-dominant workplace. :)
