I am quite new to MOM05.

In Operator Console under Resolution State it shows all new alerts though
some of the Alerts are quiteold - why is so?

Second when I select resolve on any alert and enter the info there it
disspears after that, I want to know where it keeps this information, in case
I have to go back and read it or to show it to my manager/team lead???

Please advise.

Many Thanks,

I followed your suggestion.
Then went to Admin Console -> Operations -> but the Start Reporting Console
is greyed out???????

I guess it is because I am running Trial Version of every thing on my test
server.

Advise Please.

Alerts will be listed with the New resolution state until they are
changed to a different state such as Acknowledged or Resolved. Also, be
aware that the Operator console by default only displays alerts with
Resolution State Not Equals Resolved. You can change this by
right-clicking on Alerts in the left-hand pane of the Operator console
(with Alerts view active), and choosing Properties. You can then edit
the View Description to show whichever resolution states you wish to
see, and you can also specify which computers you would like to see as
well.

Right click on the default view for Alerts and check the Properties. You will
see that it does not display "Resolved" alerts. You can create a new view
with your own criteria to see these if you want. You can also "Personalise"
any view to add, remove or re-arrange the columns.

There are several fields related to time - time of first event, time of last
event, time last modified and time in state. I usually sort by "Time of last
event" to see the most recent stuff.

Cheers
- Adam

PS: If alert supression is enabled for a rule, once an alert is raised it
will keep updating its "repeat count" and "time of last event" each time a
new matching event occurs. If alert supression is not enabled, a new alert
will be raised for every matching event.

Thank you Daniel.

I followed your suggestion.
Then went to Admin Console -> Operations -> but the Start Reporting
Console
is greyed out???????

I guess it is because I am running Trial Version of every thing on my test
server.

Advise Please.

Thank you for your response Daniel.

During the install of report it's asking me to install Visual Studio
.NET
2003. I am in a test envoirenment and have downloaded every thing from
the
mothership but cannot find a link from where I can download the VS .NET
2003?

Any ideas?

Regards,

Hello,

Thank you for your posting!

Please also install MOM Reporting from the MOM Product Disk.
And then open the MOM Reporting Console to generate the reports

Thank you Daniel for your response.

I have installed the SQL reporting but where can I check the
required
information?

Please advise.

You should use MOM reporting to generate the reports for Alerts and
Events

I am quite new to MOM05.

In Operator Console under Resolution State it shows all new
alerts
though
some of the Alerts are quiteold - why is so?

Second when I select resolve on any alert and enter the info
there
it
disspears after that, I want to know where it keeps this
information,
in
case
I have to go back and read it or to show it to my manager/team
lead???

Please advise.

Many Thanks,

Thank you gentlemen for your response. That was helpful.

PS: If alert supression is enabled for a rule, once an alert is raised it
will keep updating its "repeat count" and "time of last event" each time a
new matching event occurs. If alert supression is not enabled, a new alert
will be raised for every matching event.
