Issues with attachments within sharepoint once the site was |

I have an issue with Sharepoint and some of the links within the sites. At
first, Sharepoint was only available to the intranet. Everything worked
fine when it was accessed by "serversp.domain.com". Now, since it is turned
to the Internet and are using the domain name "sps.domain.com" we are having
issues with opening attachments.
For instance, I can click on a Word document, it takes 30 seconds for a
message to pop up stating "could not open
'http://serversp/sites/Demo/ccc/ie1/CS 1111/Forms/template.doc'."
I can see that the link is incorrect. It is the intranet netbios name and
not the Internet DNS name. Once I click OK to this message it appear to
open fine.
Any ideas or suggestions?
