MOM environment on 2 Machines |
|
|
Hi Champs!
I am trying to install MOM on one machine and want to connect to a backend
SQL Server.
The SQL server does not have ASP.NET nor does it have IIS installed.
The MOM server is running ASP.NET and IIS.
Questions: on what server do I install Reporting services.
And how do I, from the MOM server, contact the SQL server? |

Hello,
Thank you for your posting!
For the SQL Server Reporting Service, Please install on the MOM Server.
Please also install MOM Reporting by using the MOM product disk on the MOM
Server.
If you have any questions, please feel to let me know. I am glad to be of
assistance.

Kurlan,
The SQL Reporting Services can be installed on either server or a
different server entirely, but you will have to be running IIS on the
MOM Reporting Server. The Reporting database will have to go on a SQL
server obviously. SQL Reporting Services can then be installed on the
Reporting Database server or the Reporting Server or a separate server.
You will be asked the location of the Reporting Database server during
the setup of MOM Reporting. You will also have to supply two accounts
during setup: one used by the MOM Reporting Server to access the
database and the other to run the DTS job to transfer data from the
Onepoint database to the Reporting database.

I have a SQL server, as I only want to use as a backend database server; I do
not want IIS on this server.
Then I have a MOM server with ASP.net, IIS but no SQL server.
If I try to install on SQL, I get error that there is no ASP.NET and no IIS.
If I try to install on MOM, I get error that there is no SQL server.

Kurlan,
The MOM Reporting setup must be run on the SQL server where the
reporting database will be installed. During the installation, a
different server can be specified where SQL Reporting Services will be
installed. Note that SQL Reporting Services should already be installed
before running MOM Reporting setup. This server will need to be running
IIS and SQL Reporting Services. Unfortunately, ASP.NET is required for
MOM Reporting setup to succeed. However, you can remove ASP.NET after
the MOM Reporting installation is finished since the ASP.NET is only
used for the prerequisite check.
