frs prestaging |
|
|
Hi all,
I've got dfs&frs running here for some smaller folders between two servers
connected by a slow VPN wan connection.
The problem is that I want to add a 50Gig folder to the replication set. The
initial replication will take weeks I think, and our allowed traffic is
limited to 10Gig's/month.
This is however verly slow changing data, so once both servers have the same
data, the data limit and connection speed won't be a problem any more.
So how can I "prestage" this 50gig's (using a portable HD or so).. I
understand that the prestaging procedure described by MS requires 3
members.. so this is no option.
Is there really no other option for doing the inital copy without frs
recopying the complete 50gigs?
I don't see any other option by now but to use an other solution than frs,
however frs works great for our smaller folders (+- 1gig) so if possible I
would like to keep using frs...
thanks for ur time! |

Unfortunately I'm not aware of any other way to do this than the published
method.

Hmm ic
What I'm going to do is setting up a virtual server in vmware as second
(temporary) member, to be able to do the prestaging thing.
Hope this will work...
thnx for your reply!
