I have a 2003 cluster running IIS on Compaq cluster hardware. After an error
required me to remove node 2 from the cluster I cannot get both servers to
boot at the same time to re-add it to the cluster. One server comes up fine
and the other will hang on the OS loading screen and cause disk write errors
on the other. I have re-initialised the clustersrvices on node 2 and stoped
the service on node 1 but still no love on boot. Any suggestions?

hi wparson!

have you tried to boot node 2 without connected scsi cable to the shared
disk?

Yes, it will boot fine as long as the shared storage is not connected but
then it cannot be re-added to the cluster. Either server will boot fine on
its own with the shared storage connected, it is only when one is already up
the other hangs on the OS load screen.

hi!

look to the scsi adapter, if there is somewhere a reinitialization on reboot
active. look to the scsi driver if there is somewhere a bus reinitialization
active. clear that settings.

boot node 1 and stop cluster service.
then boot node 2... it should work now....

then start cluster service on node 1. go to node 2 and re-add it to the
cluster.
