Hi all,
Would NtfsDisableLastAccessUpdate=1 influance the way ntfrs / dfs works. How
does the journal get it's changed file info? Is it through modify date and
would the setting NtfsDisableLastAccessUpdate=1 influence the modify date
too?
I want to optimize file servers that are memebers of a dfs replica set,
that's why I ask this question. The dfs share is an application installation
source for workstations. Most sources are MSI's (vary from 2 MB to 500 MB)
with some scripting around it.
How does the comming R2 DFS-FRS cope with this ... is it the same as NTFRS?

I don't believe FRS cares about last access time. FRS monitors the USN
change journal for "close" records. When a file is closed, this action is
recorded in the USN journal and FRS will replicate the file (assuming the
schedule is open). DFS Replication is the same way, fyi.
