Ok, I have inherited this forest that I keep finding the weirdest
abnormalities in. The latest is as follows:

One of the domains is a small domain that all resides in a single site with
3 DCs. Two of these DCs are Windows 2000 running DNS, one of the DCs is
Windows 2003.

In DNS I am finding the following.

A bunch of non-DC machines (about 60, mostly workstations) have registered
the following records in DNS:

The root (same as parent folder) Host IP address

_ldap._tcp.Affinityhealth.net SRV record on port 389

_ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.affinityhealth,net SRV record on port 389

What on earth could cause this????

Thanks in advance

These are likely XP clients, call Microsoft for the patch, or install SP2,
which is also suppose to fix this.
Netlogon incorrectly registers SRV records in DNS for Windows XP-based
clients:

No problem, I first saw this about 1-1/2 years ago, so I knew exactly what
was happening and what caused it, without knowing this, it is hard to know
the correct keyword search to use.
