Channel Rendering / Default Page |
|
|
I'm having an issue on my development and live CMS servers. For each channel
in the site, I have set up a default page to use pages with the name
"default". However when I navigate to the site with just a URL for example
"http://cityweb/" - I get a directory listing is denied page.
When I navigate to
"http://cityweb/default" - the page displays correclty.
Is there somewhere else where the default page name needs to be set in order
to make the default page come up without having to enter the name?

Hi Malcom,
did you enable the map channel name to host header name feature?
Cheers,
Stefan

Hi Malcom,
if this feature is disabled then the behaviour below is as expected.
To get the root URL as a managed URL you need to enable the map channel name
to host header name feature.
If you need two different names to be mapped to the same channel you should
follow the instructions in the following article:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/4/2/5/4250f79a-c3a1-4003-9272-2404e92bb76a/MCMS+2002+-+(complete)+FAQ.htm#477EA7E7-CA78-456B-BC4D-B3E3AE832ABE
Cheers,

Thanks for the reponse. The reason I have it currently turned off is
that
I have both a read only site and a read/write site pointed at the same cms
web application. So for example I have
cityweb & edit.cityweb has my dns names that are used to access the site.
Within the CMS database the site starts at the root Channels channel.
So if a use hits the cityweb site they have a read-only view of the site,
if
they go to the edit.cityweb they can see the default console and edit the
site if they have the proper authorization.
Because of this I was unable to turn on map host header names and have
both
sites.
Is this something that I may be able to do with a channel rendering
script?
