DNS mx record |
|
|
My smtp server doesn't seem to have deleted something from the cache, as it
is still pointing to an old mail server. Where should I look? DNS seems ok. |

Are you saying it has someone's MX record in its cache?
It is likely that the TTL has not expired on the MX record, what is the
domain?

It only gives problems with my internal dns-server. Using my ISP's server
works fine.

Can you describe what is happening?
Is it only one particular domain?

In news:uTeFcZi1FHA.3336@TK2MSFTNGP12.phx.gbl,
Guus Ellenkamp <Ellenkamp_Guus@hotmail.com> made this post, which I then
commented about below:

Guus,
Are you saying your mail server is still referencing an old IP address? Did
you manually go into your zone and update the record on your server?
After you've manually updated it, try clearing your DNS server cache.
If this doesn't help, I apologize, but I am, as well as Kevin, are going by
your limited information you provided. It may be better off if you can give
a detailed and elaborate description of exactly what is going on, using
specific IP addresses and host and domain names for examples, and what the
actual domain name is. In addition, an ipconfig /all of your smtp server and
what name brand you are using.

Re: DNS mx record |

This is what I get in return. Only from the local server. Name is
main.megaheights.net. In its dns there is no such thing as
mail4.ourmailservers.com (except in the cache, I assume after sending the
e-mail). It was the previous hosting provider. The name
mail1.megaheights.net is an alias for main.megaheights.net.
main.megaheights.net is running a pop3 service for the domain
megaheights.net. Will this interfere? I have an mx record for
bravo.commonservers.com which is the current hosting providers mail server.
