MCMS - service packs and templates |
|
|
We've got MCMS 2002 Enterprise up and running here and I think I'm
getting up to speed, but I'm doing some work for a client that has MCMS
2002 Standard on their machines. I'm trying to install the service pack
so they can use Visual Studio .Net 2003 with the extensions. The import
/ export function in Site Manager is, unhelpfully, crashing every time.
I have several questions.
1) I've downloaded service pack 1 for MCMS 2002. It seems to be looking
for the original CD, and wouldn't you know it, the client isn't sure
where it is. Is there any way to get around this, or do I need to
source a new CD from somewhere?
2) I'm unclear on how to incorporate templates into a CMS site without
using the Visual Studio authoring extensions anywhere down the line.
I'm used to defining placeholders etc from within that IDE - is there a
way to do it otherwise?
The end solution might be to build their site on our MCMS Enterprise,
but for various reasons I'm unhappy to do this except as a last resort.
Can anyone help?
Thanks.

Hi Ben,
1) MCMS 2002 Standard Edition already has SP1a integrated.
So there is no need to install a service pack if you are using Standard
Edition.
2) you can use the following standalone version:

Cheers,
