Replication of MCMS on another Computer |
|
|
I had a fully working mcms project running in my development machine. All
database are resident within the computer. I will be transferring mcms
project onto a deployment machine. I had:
1) Exported the mcms project with the site manager to a file test.sdo
2) Imported the mcms project test.sdo into the deployment machine
Qns:
How can I transfer all by SQL databases to the deployment machine? With
diagrams
I Exported the database via SQL manager to the deployment machine but all
dtproperties(diagram) transferred was denied.
I can go to the website http://localhost/xxx/ but once I click on the switch
to edit site button nohing happens i.e. go back to the same page.
Why is this so, have I miss out on any steps?
Thanks! |

Hi Stefan,
Maybe I should rephrase my queries.
1. I need to do a connection to the DCA a MCMS database readable by SQL
manager. By importing the .sdo file from the site manager, does it implies
that the database will be created automatically? If so must I copy the whole
database over?
2. I had imported a .sdo file into the deployment PC. I got the project in
the deployment PC too. I did a rebuild of the programme. I access the webpage
http://localhost/[project]/.
- the webpage can be accessed
- the parent channel can has its "SWITCH TO EDIT" click
I tried to create a new page, but the images of the toolbars for inputing
images or should I say all the placeholders toolbars are not working.
I proceed with http://localhost/[project]/[channel1]/
I tried to click the "SWITCH TO EDIT" link it remains in the "SWITCH TO
EDIT" page. i.e. error in page
I switch to the Tropical Green example which is done up earlier and it works
fine. Any idea what can be the issue?
Thanks!
Best Regards,
JJ

that is not a MCMS related question.
Please post this question to an SQL server related newsgroup.
For MCMS a copy of the MCMS database is required or a deployment of the
content to a fresh database.
Cheers,
Stefan

Hi JJ,
1) you need to create a new, empty database. Then run the DCA and connect
your MCMS to it and this will deploy the MCMS schema to the database.
Now you can import the SDO file into the database.
2) you can't access template projects using http requests. Only postings.
3) The URL must not include the project. Only the channel structure.
Cheers,
Stefan

Hi Stefan,
Sorry for the confusion. I should had put, http://localhost/channelName/
instead. I had place project name as I had a similar channel name with the
project name.
Thanks a lot for the first point as I did mistake by using SQL languages to
copy the database over to the deployment machine then I imported the SDO.
This might caused unwanted discrepency.
