Mac SIP Messenger "sort of" working on LCS 2005...? |
|
|
I have a user that can login to their SIP Mac messenger client, see others
online, and receive IM's from others. She types and I can see that she's
typing, she can send an invitation to chat and I get it in messenger - but
when trys to actually send text, it comes back immediately with that
beautfiul vague as hell "the message could not be sent" thing.
Anyone see this? Other macs and windows Pc's login with zero problems and
those macs are using the same OS (X).
....?
Thanks!

I had this problem with remote users when connecting by TCP and was
only able to solve it by switching to TLS.

we're not using TLS though as we only use it internally so no need for SSL

The only way I could get my Mac clients on was by using an Access Proxy
with TLS, since the Mac's are technically not on the domain. You'll
also need to make sure that the cert for the proxy is in their x509
anchors keychain. |

I have several macs on using this messenger without a problem, all with the
same config and this one mac in question logs in, can receive messages and
see others online but just can't send anything herself.
Strange...

I assume you're running OSX...
Are your Mac's configured with Active Directory? |

no...but again, the majority of the macs using this Mac messenger 5 do not
have this problem and they are running the same software/OS in the same
network config as the others so I don't see how AD would be the cause, if it
were all of our macs would have the same problem.

Even if the macs aren't part of the domain, if you tell your server to use
NTLM authentication, the Macs will work (without needing the AP if they have
local network access). When going through an AP NTLM is always used, so
this may help explain the problem where using an AP helped allow the mac
clients to work.

This makes all clients that login (using account/password credentials) to
that machine (using LCS) utilize NTLM instead of Kerberos.

"both ntlm and kerberos" to "ntlm" only?
Will that have any goofy effects on remote PC's we have connecting across

Thanks!
