chnaging dns ip address |
|
|
we are currently using public IP's for all our servers and clients. We are
going to be switching to private IP's shortly. We are a server 2003
environment. We have a DC, webserver, print server, and 2 dns servers. They
all have public IP's now. What steps should i take in re-iping them. and
what do i do about the foward zones in dns that will have all the old ip
info. Any help or articles would be appreciated. Thanks , Tom |

You should add the new IP subnet to all NICs then if you are using dynamic
DNS registration DNS will take are of itself netdiag will help you
re-register the records in DNS. Don't remove the old IPs until connectivity
is working on the new IPs.
It is very difficult to just change IPs because you could lose connectivity
until everything is on the same subnet.
