HIS 2004 & IP-DLC |
|
|
Hi,
is working on replacing 20 outdated SNA 4.0 servers that were connected
using Token Ring via CISCO/SNASW to host.
Have configured the first HIS 2004 on at Windows 2003 server using
IP-DLC in place of CISCO/SNASW. All the LU 6.2 trafic works perfectly
without changes to the host setup(peer 2 peer link).
Have set up a host link as well for TN3270E connections, but is getting
TN3270E Service Message 525
The PU is active for LU X(were X is LU Name)
You may continue to wait or terminate your session
Is there some samples out there on how to set up the host/HIS 2004 for
TN3270E over IP-DLC links?
Regards,

Johnny,
The TN3270E setup should be the same as LU2 3270 as far as the mainframe is
concerned - it doesn't know you're doing anything different at the server end.
Two things to check...
1. The PU you're using for IP-DLC is separate to the PU you're using for the
connection with the TN3270 LU's? It needs to be.
2. Check the PU mainframe definition for the connection you have the TN3270
LU's configured over. Does it have LU definitions for the same LU numbers that
you have defined on the HIS Server?
Anything in the NT application event log?

Johnny,

That's still my best guess.
| Quote: | When connecting the LU state changes from inactive to pending and back
to inactive when disconnecting. The eventlog get nothing until i
disconnects(SRC: SNA RUI application. Event: 1956. RUI_TERM complete for

If it still doesn't work after setting up a separate connection (PU) for the LU
sessions, then you'll need to get an SNA trace of TN3270 and IP-DLC.

Thanks,
I am not quite sure about the separate PU's for IP-DLC/TN3270, but is

Have checked the PU maninframe definition and LU definitions and
compared to the HIS defined LU's it all looks fine(i only gets this far
when using the right LU definitions).

Hi,
I beleive the HIS2004 is correctly set up(same setup as in MS IP-DLC
webcast). My challenge is that the mainframe is placed in another
contry(Sweden) and the mainframe guys are very busy doing other choirs.
If I could get some sample of PU/LU mainframe configuraion for the 3270
in order for me to send them a setup they can cut/paste.

Thanks Neil,
-that was just what I needed to get the mainframe guys going.
The "Configuring IP-DLC link services for IBM Enterprise Extender"
document apparently was too much for them to go through.

No problem - glad to hear you're up and working.

Well, a true techie never reads the manual do they? ;-)
I'll have to admit that I've never actually read the whitepaper myself! - I
figured out the IP-DLC config on my own, but then I used to be a mainframe
systems programmer many years ago so I know the mainframe terminology/setup
pretty well.
Sounds like I should proof-read it to see what improvements could be made to
it - another job for the "to-do" list.
