DNS Help - probably Simple |
|
|
I have a Small Business Server 2003 domain with a total of 4 servers.
My GFI MailEssentials program keeps telling me I have a DNS error, but I
don't know what it is.
Can anyone help me, and if so, what information do I need to tell you.
Thanks!

Neil,
The DNS configured on the GFI server may not be able to resolve external
sites.
Check your network card settings
Make sure you can resolve external sites from the GFI server

Niel,
Try to ping www.google.com from a command prompt.
It should resolve to an IP address and get replies.
Checking DNS settings.
Right click on my network places then click properties.
Right click on the network connection and then click properties.
Double click on internet protocol
Check the DNS settings there.

Pinging Google is fine.
In DNS Settings I have the IP of the server (this is the domain controller),
and nothing in alternate DNS.
The second NIC that is the Internet connection has the same settings.

Neil,
Do you have the Real Time Black list enabled in Mail Essentials?
It may be using a site that has become defunct.
Check the RBL servers you are using.
