Can anyone help?

OS: Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server

A 1GB Quorum Drive has been configured on a Fibre Channel SAN. This drive
was formatted using NTFS. Two other drive areas on the SAN were aloso masked
to both servers that will be members of the cluster. Using My Computer access
to these drives were fine.

One server was turned on and the clustering feature was installed. Ran
through the whole wizard with no errors. When clicking finish, it sits at
starting the cluster service. An error then appears stating that the cluster
service could not start but the cluster was created successfully.

If you went to My Computer the drives letters would appear, but with no
drive names. When accessing these drives, an error appears stating drive is
not accessible.

If the cluster service is then unistalled and the server is rebooted, access
to the drives is then restored.

Clustering was installed on the second server, but ended up with the same
results.

Both of these servers were then formatted and reinstalled with Windows 2000
server but ended up with the same results.

Any help would be appreciated.

You will not be able to access the disk resources when cluster service is
not started...this is by design. It sounds like you've done everything
right...we just need to know why your cluster service isn't starting. What
the errors are that you are seeing in the event log or the cluster log?

Many Thanks for the reply, the event errors in the event viewer are
1) Event ID 1009, Source ClusSvc, Microsoft Cluster Server could not join an
existing cluster and could no form a new cluster. Microsoft Cluster Server
has terminated
2)Event ID 1069, Source ClusSvc, Cluster resource "Q Quorum" is failed

Looks like you're having issues with your quorum disk. The cluster serivce
is complaining that it cannot , though I can't see the reason why. You might
want to check the connections to this disk and verify that you can get I/O
to the disk when cluster is not installed. There are other troubleshooting
tips in the following article that might help:
