What am I doing wrong.
I have W2k3 sp1 on 7 DC's and W2k on 2 DC's
I get provider deployment failed on all W2k3 DC's except DC where
Ultrasound is installed. W2k DC's no problem. the W2k boxes are in different
sites.
Ultrasound deployed ok once on two of the DC's that were W2k3, and now I'm
getting:
"Failed Ultrasound server updates - Cannot collect data from server"
Does anyone have an idea? I am deploying Ultrasound for the first time.

You may be heartened to know I had exactly the same problems with my
deployment. The automatic provider deployment does not appear to work with
Windows 2003 and Windows 2003 SP1. I played about with it in my test lab and
tried all the suggestions in the Ultrasound FAQ but with no joy. The tests
in the Ultrasound FAQ all suggested my WMI namespace permissions were OK. I
spent ages searching Google and I believe I did find a post suggesting that
there is a problem with the 2003 permissions which affect the provider
deployment and that MSFT are investigating.

The solution is to install the provider manually on the Windows 2003 servers
and then override the server's deployment status to "installed" in the
"Configure Ultrasound" menu in the console.

If you've done the above and still cannot collect data then you may have to
reinstall the provider. Everyone once in a while (not often) a provider can
get itself in a twist, and a reinstall usually cures this.

Thanks!
I don't feel as much like a n00b now. I'll give your solution a whirl and
let you know how it works out.
