Can not locate the MOM Database [re-install of mgmt-server] |
|
|
Hi,
after having trouble with on of our MOM 2005 management servers I
decided to uninstall the mom management server components and
reinstall them.
Now I get the message "Can not locate the MOM Database" when setup
asks me for the sql db.
The MOM DB is installed on a SQL2000 SP3 Cluster, it is up and running
there, and the other (existing) management server works fine with that
database. There is no DNS problem and the instance name and sql port I
provide are both correct. I can ping the instance name and telnet to
the sql port. I can successfully create a odbc source to the MOM db.
When I try to connect to our test instance, that database is
immedantly found and setup would continue. So there must be a problem
with the productiion db.
I assume the problem might be that the SQL DB was already once moved
from one Cluster to the actual one, so the DB instance is now running
an a cluster where the MOM DB setup program has never been run. (the
test db runs on a cluster as well, but has never been moved around)
I found Article KB 885727 and added the missing registry keys (HKLM\
SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Microsoft Operations Manager\ 2.0) manually on
the active node, but that makes no difference.
What else can I do to sucsessfully set up the additional Management
Server, without first backing up / reinstalling / restoring the
Database on the production cluster?
Thank you! |
