aspnet_wp.exe, IIS 5.1 and CMS memory issue? |
|
|
Setup:
windows xp pro sp2
1.6 ghz proc
256 mb ram
mcms2002 sp1a
issue:
when trying to access the CMS site on the localhost (my dev-workstation) the
aspnet_wp.exe goes from 32mb to 64mb trying to load a single page and it took
2 minutes 15 seconds.
is this normal for the setup I have, and yes I know the requirements for the
app requires alot more ram, I am just making sure this is normal for my
hardware?
My company will not splurge on more ram so if anyone knows a configuration
issue to set to speed the page load up I would appreciate it.
thanks. |

Hi Donnie,
is this your first request to the page?
Do follow up requests to the same page take the same time?
Is there complex logic on the template?
What if you have a template that only hosts the default console and one
single html placeholder control?
Btw: 256 MB RAM is far below the recommended memory (1 GB). So don't expect
a good performance for such a setup,
Cheers,
Stefan

Hi Donnie,
MCMS has not be tested or optimized for such low memory.
So you can't expect good performance.
Memory is very cheap these days. Your company should reconsider this
decision.

Yes, it's the first request to the page. When I refresh it loads faster,
however after a few minutes the refresh takes as long as it did the first
time. I have about 15 templates of varying content ranging from simple
generic with one placeholder to complicated templates. They all load the
same. Each time I go to a new page within the site that is using a new
template is takes about 2 minutes to load. Once the output cache is
expires
the page takes 2 minutes to load.
BTW, Yes I know about the ram, however the company(gov) will not spend any
more for upgrades so I am stuck using what I have. I was just curious if
this
is normal for my setup.
thanks,
Donnie
