Journal Wrap Error |
|
|
I've encountered Journal Wrap Error on one of 2 DCs. Microsoft has detailed
instructions in the event viewer and their website to use the registry value
"Enable Journal Wrap Automatic Restore", but includes a sentence in the
middle of the explanantion saying Microsoft does not recommend you try this,
and not for use post SP3 for server 2000. I'm on SP4. Any one do this and
had a catastrophy or success? I believe I've fixed the root cause of the FRs
failure. I'm only replicating sysvol. |

I used the D2 non authoritative restore to fix this problem. See KB
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290762/
What they are saying is that the Automatica restore is now a controllable
option. Before it was automatic and without warning. Now you can use the REG
key to activate and deactivate when you want to run the process.

Yes, they kept changing their mind on this. Manual, automatic, and back to
manual again (based on customer feedback). The best way at present, which
is what is recommended by Microsoft, is what III stated - using BurFlags.
In R2, because of the greatly improved byte-level replication and RDC, this
will be automatic - and you won't care about it. The RDC stuff is awesome!!
