Migrate zones from NT4 |
|
|
Hi all!
I have a NT4 DNS Server for Internet Domains.
Now, I want to replace that box, so I've installed Windows 2003 Server. Is
there any way to migrate all zones (234) to Windows 2003 without retyping
them?
Regards,

set up your win2k3 server as a 2ndary dns server to your nt4 box. transfer
the zones as you might normally do... once done (and verified) change the
dns zones on the 2k3 box to primary (from 2ndary).
Once this is done, change the ip of the 2k3 server to the ip of the nt4
server (after taking the nt4 server offline of course).
DONE

i just realized you might mean w/o manually creating the zones (given
there are 234 of them)...look into vbscripting. it *might* be able to do
this..but if you dont know vbscript, it would be quicker to manually
create all the new zones.. although knowing vbs never hurts for a win
admin.
