Hi !

This is a standard WIndows 2000 DNS server. I only have 1 DNS server. I
tried with AD integrated DNS and Primary DNS.

The major problem is when I typed ipconfig /registerdns on a station the
station is registered in the reverse lookup zone but not in the forward
zone.

How is the forward zone configured?
Zones are set independently to allow (or not) dynamic updates.
Is the machine a DHCP client? Is it a member of the domain?
Is its primary DNS suffix (in sys properties) set correctly?

The Primary DNS suffix will need to have the zone name you want the client
registered in.
-OR-
( in TCP/IP properties DNS tab) The DNS suffix for this connection must have
the domain name AND you must select "Register this connection's addresses in
DNS" and "Use this connection's DNS suffix in DNS registration". The
Connection DNS suffix can be assigned by DHCP option 015 (domain name)

Yes dns suffix is OK, dynamic update allowed on the dns server, client
machine has fixed ip address.

It's not the first time I installed a dns server but the tech that instaleld
the server had major problem and I don't know what he did :(

have u tried w/ standard(nonAD DNS) deleting the DNS files under
c:\windows\system32\dns\ and letting them recreate on their own.
and then maybe convert them to AD dns (if need be).
