Hi all!

I am currently working on our NT4 to W2K3 migration project and have a
few queries re IP addressing schemes.
Our current IP address scheme is a Class B network which is still
running under NT4 and we have XP Pro clients getting their IP addresses
from a DHCP server.
Typical IP addresses in use are 10.10.10.100 - 10.10.10.250 with Subnet
255.255.0.0

I am now planning to use the following IP addressing scheme for my
workstations, servers and networking hardware devices:

172.17.1.1 - 172.17.1.250 DHCP assigned addresses for Windows XP Pro
clients
172.17.0.1 - 172.17.0.30 Static IP addresses for servers
172.17.0.40 - 172.17.0.60 Static IP addresses for networking hardware
devices such as switches

Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0

We are a small network circa 120 -150 clients. What do you think of the
above IP addressing scheme? Our users do not have internet access yet
but we plan on introducing it early next year. Would such an IP
addressing scheme cause any problems? Obviously we would have to
introduce NAT. Any comments would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Pierre

Hi Pierre,

I'm not sure what kind of comments do you need but I think your plan is
good.
