Reverse lookup address registration |
|
|
Hello,
I am having a slight problem with a cluster that is not fully
registering its IP address in the corresponding reverse lookup zone. I
am not getting any errors for this.
Forward lookup name registration is working without problems.
We are having a multi-domain single forest environment.
The primary DNS server does not have a primary copy of the reverse
lookup zone, but is able to reference to it via forwarding.
The primary zone is held by a DNS server in another domain and is
configured for dynamic updates. Permissions are also set correctly for
Authenticated Users.
Is there anything I have to configure on the cluster node in order to
make reverse lookup registration work? I just want to avoid setting
static DNS entries if possible...
Thanks in advance for the help.

Forgot to mention: The IP addresses of the host systems are correctly
registered. Only the cluster IP is not registering... |

You have to own a writable copy of the reverse DNS to write to it.
Forwarding will not work for this You won't get any errors for reverse zone,
since Active Directory does not require them, Microsoft does not error on
them.
