DHCP server on cluster |
|
|
Hello,
I was wondering if someone could provide me with some information on
creating or actually configuring the DHCP-service on a cluster running
Windows 2003.
A couple of months ago I installed a cluster with a DHCP-server on it,
my customer called me today that when he did a failover he lost all of
his reservations! ... I looked it up and found an article on the
Microsoft site stating that you would have to move the DHCP database to
a shared-disk resource on the cluster.
My question: is it possible/allowed to create a directory on the quorum
disk where I can store the DHCP-data?
Thanks in advance! |

hi consol!
you need to deactivate your local dhcp server, when you want to start
clustering it and recreate a dhcp server as a cluster resource within
cluster administrator. you can locate the dhcp database on the quorum disk,
but it is not recommended. best you create a single shared disk in an own
cluster group with an own ip and name for clustering the dhcp service.
then the failover of the service within the cluster handles the failover of
reservation informations etc.
