Unable to create a junction point |
|
|
I am trying to setup DFS and FRS for backup/fault tolerance of my network.
When I go to create the dfs link, I broswe to the test (shared) folder and I
get the following message when I try to create the link:
Unable to create a junction point.
I can not find any useful information about this error.
Thanks. |

Have you got anywhere on this? Do the logs give you anything?

No and no. Since I can not get this piece of MS to work, I am testing 3rd
party programs for this. Maybe you could offer another approach.
What I want to accomplish is I want my second, off-site, server to be an
exact copy of my production server. I want replication to happen one-way,
production server to backup server and as close to real time as I can get.
This is purely for disaster recovery and not backup purposes; we do a nightly
tape backup.
Is DFS and FRS the way to go? From what I am learning, it may not be the
best method. Also, it is my understanding that if I use DFS and FRS to do
this, if they have an issue they can bring the whole network down since it is
connected to Active Directory. Is this correct?
Thank you.
