DFS problems... morphed objects |
|
|
OK, I have a mix of servers, 24 2003 machines and 2 2000 machines.
We created a DFS root a while back and have FRS turned on for this root to
replicate a number of files. Recently I tried adding a number of links from
this root to other file shares. Doing so created a number of morphed objects
in my DFS (share_NTFRS_8 digit ID).
First, how do I get rid of these morphed objects? If I try to delete, I get
an error such as, "The network location cannot be reached".
Second, is there a way to do this cleanly without having to turn off FRS for
my DFS root?
Thanks in advance!

I deteled the objects, didn't realize I couldn't delete a link through local
Windows Explorer on the server. Had to do it through the DFS share.... Now,
someone help me with the second issue please.

FRS morphs existing objects in a downstream replica.
So, if you have two shares a and b, which are part of the same link and are
replicas, and a is the source and b is the target, any files in b will be
morphed when information is replicated from a.
Check out the DFS FAQ for more information on this. You'll find the FAQ
