primary HIs server |
|
|
Hi list,
Suppose that there are 2 HIS server in the same subdomain. The first one is
primary, the other one is secondary.
Does the secondary server still continue to work if I close primary HIS
server?
Do you know that?
Thanks alot.

Yes, but you will not be able to make configuration changes until the
primary is back online (or you promote it to primary).

Pinar,
In addition to Charles's answer, you also need your clients to be configured to
be able to connect to the secondary as a sponsor server, otherwise they won't
find it. But then your sponsor entries already, I hope, include all possible
servers in the subdomain....

Hi,
Yes, we already configured all clients to be able to connect to secondary
server.
As I understand from your replies, I can stop primary server.
Thanks to all.

No problem. Any issues, just post back. But remember newsgroups aren't good for
anything time-critical. For that you need to call MS PSS and pay $xxx for a support
call. Or call me on the mobile and pay £xxx. :-) Except you don't have my mobile
number of course. ;-)

Neil,
I changed primary server as secondary and secondary as primary. But now,
I see "CONFIG LOCK" message on sna manager of primary server. So I am not
able to save any changes. Do you have any idea about that?
Regards..

Pinar,
You need to go to the server/workstation (running SNA Manager) that has got the
uncommitted changes on it and either cancel or save them.
