Tons of Errors! |
|
|
Hello,
I inherited a structure where the Active Directory
doman name is identical to the company's public internet
domain name. The main issue I have with this is that I
can't control company.com and have to point everything to
companyinternal.com for dynamic DNS. To be honest, I've
got things seemingly working, everyone is able to work
and I just use GPO to force DNS registration into the
althernate DNS space. However, I am seeing tons of
eventlog errors on my DC's.
Most notable event 1925:
--------------------------------------------
The attempt to establish a replication link for the
following writable directory partition failed.
Directory partition:
CN=Configuration,DC=company,DC=com
Source domain controller:
CN=NTDS
Settings,CN=domaincontroller,CN=Servers,CN=Default-First-
Site-Name,CN=Sites,CN=Configuration,DC=company,DC=com
Source domain controller address:
GUID._msdcs.company.com
Intersite transport (if any):
This domain controller will be unable to replicate with
the source domain controller until this problem is
corrected.
User Action
Verify if the source domain controller is accessible or
network connectivity is available.
----------------------------------------------------
The interesting thing here is that there is what I
believe a "man made" (just a hunch) _msdcs.company.com
zone with the guid.company.com record. Why can't my DC's
figure that out? Am I at risk here? The other ID I'm
getting overwhelmed with is 13508 regarding FRS, I'm sure
these two are linked together somehow but I don't know
how. It seems things are actually working in the
environment but I don't want to get surprised down the
road.
Thanks,
Dan |
