Migration from STS to WSS |

Hi,
I have a STS server with 500 STS sites.
These need to be migrated to WSS.
When I use smigrate.exe to backup the STS Server 8 files are created.
(backup.fwp-backup7.fwp)
Why not just one?
Also when I do the restore only the top-level site from the STS server
is restored - no i did not include the -e switch to exclude backing up
sub-sites!
Can anyone suggest a way to restore my sub-sites please/let me know
where they may be?
