I have a customer that have 2 * Windows NT 4 clusters. We need to have these
2 clusters to been merge to one Windows 2003 cluster with the total of 4
nodes.
But is there any utility that can do the work for me?
The plan is to take node 2 in cluster A, and evict this. Then move the HBA
to the new node 2, and install windows 2003 and join the cluster A. After
this we take node 1 in cluster A, and make the evict. Move the HBA to the new
server, install windows 2003 and join cluster A.

But how can we "dump or export" the resource from cluster B ? I have read
that ClusTool.exe is not supported on W2K3 - is thats correct ?

Any idea'?

You can't go from NT 4.0 to 2003 without starting from scratch. Don't panic
its not that big of a deal. What are you clustering? Printers? Files? DHCP?
WINS? MSMQ?

Clustool stopped working around W2K SP3.

Have you looked into Clusterrecovery.exe: Server Cluster Recovery Utility?
Get it here -
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=9d467a69-57ff-4ae7-96ee-b18c4790cffd&displaylang=en

But depending on what resources you have, I would probably just start all
over.

Cheers,

Rod

Hi Rod,

Hmm, isn't possible to join a existent nt 4 cluster with a newly installed
windows 2003 ?
The clustering is for files and printers, and some special non-MS
applications witch is running as an generic service/application.

Hi Flemming,

This is the path we would recommend you follow, then add other Windows 2003
nodes until all 4 nodes form the cluster.
