NLB causes Duplicate Ping replies |
|
|
Hi,
I've configured NLB on a windows 2003 server, the problem I'm having
is that monitoring software uses ping to check the system and the NLB
is replying with DUP!
Is there anyway to remove the DUP! from NLB.
Thanks

What does you configuration look like? Uni or Multi? Are you plugged into a
switch or hub?
Cheers,

How many nodes in your NLB cluster? 2?

Hi,
I'm running a 2 node NLB Cluster on a Cisco 2848 Switch, both servers
are on the same switch. I did the NLB configuration through ISA 2004
I'm assuming it's using Unicast. I have another 2 Node NLB cluster as
a Front End Exchange Server running Unicast also getting DUP!.
Hope this helps.
Regards

That is expected when you are pinging the cluster IP address. As far as each
node in the cluster is concerned it is bound to that IP since it must be
listed as a secondary IP address under TCP/IP properties, Advanced
configuration. So, it will respond. If you ping the node dedicated IP
address you should only get one reply.
